Winter time is family time for me. Near my hometown Frankfurt, we are lucky to have the Taunus, a beautiful mountainous area, very popular with hikers, families or if you just fancy a quiet stroll in the forest. It’s always snowy there in winter and often closed due to heavy snowfall. It’s simply too dangerous to drive up there. However, for the largest part of the year, you’re free to go and have a picnic, like most people do. This is how it looks like the winter wonderland that it is, snowed in and quiet. I love the peace and beauty up there, the scenery changes nearly with every step. Germans are proud of their forests and they are usually looked after, which means they are cleaned and people are generally respectful of nature. On top of that the air so fresh and clean, you can feel it. Do take a few deep breaths whenever you go up and get some of the oxygen. Remember when oxygen was sold as an “active ingredient” in creams a few years ago? What happened to that fad? Guess the customers realised that all you gotta do is breathe.
